Shoulder update 9/6

Went back to the doc for a follow-up on the separated AC joint. It felt like it was healing well and the x-rays and the doc confirmed my feelings. No surgery necessary to make certain it heals well.

He wants me to baby the shoulder as much as possible until he sees me again in about 3 weeks (I could get an appointment for 10 days or 3 weeks. I chose 3 weeks.). In the sling would be nice, according to the doc, so in the sling I shall try to keep it.

No heavy lifting overheard, etc. I didn't even ask about aikido.

I'm afraid I may run out of movies at the local library at the rate I'm plowing through them.

Weekend update

Mild weekend. K and I went out and about Friday evening and ended up trying ome single malts for the first time. Good stuff, considering the affordability. I thought so, K., not so much.

We got up later than we should have on Saturday, so no aikido. We spent part of the day in the yard doing stuff. Also baked a couple of loaves of ciabatta bread. I'm close to getting the process down.

Sunday was some more yard work and then scouting the area for cache locations for this Saturday's F.I.G festival. The library's putting a couple of geocaches out with some information on the history of the area in each cache.

Watched K-19 Widowmaker to finish off the weekend.

Geocaching ramble

The library hosted a geocaching ramble on Saturday. What's a ramble? Well, we decided it was an opportunity to get geocachers to meet at the library as an event and to then go find the 4 caches we'd hidden around the city.

We had a handout with the coordinates of the four caches printed on it. Also on the sheet were 4 questions that had to be answered if you wanted to get additional prizes. Each of the caches started out with a supply of goodies as well.

It turned out to be a far better attended event than we expected. We were expecting around 20 folks and from our calculations 48 people attended. The supplies in the caches were not sufficient to keep up with the number of cachers. When we went to collect the caches, they were all pretty much empty.

This event turned out to be the best attended event that the library has sponsored. We may do it again next year.
